Today’s homily is the final one in the trilogy dealing with ‘the lockdown’ because of the coronavirus. In the first part of the trilogy (homily of 3/22/2020) which I titled, “Quarantine: Cell Mates or Soul Mates?”, I dealt with how, as individuals and families, we could survive and even thrive. In the second part of the trilogy (homily of 3/29/2020), entitled, “Partisan Politics or Co-creating Our Country?” I looked at how we could grow from this as a nation. And in today’s homily (4/5/2020) entitled, “Prison Planet or Paradise Re-born?” I look at the invitation of this time for our entire globe. I do a brief review of prehistory, the evolution of language, empires and their wars, religions and wisdom traditions and, finally, science and technology. After the historical review, I go on to speak of ‘understanding boundaries’, ‘the seven bodies of Gaia’ and finish up with a vision of the future of Gaia.
