Regulations and procedures: The course covers the relevant regulations and procedures for using a VHF radio, including licensing requirements, call signs, and distress procedures.

Radio operation: The course teaches the fundamentals of radio operation, including how to use the different channels, how to make a call, how to respond to a call, and how to use DSC (digital selective calling).

Emergency procedures: The course covers the emergency procedures for using a VHF radio, including how to send a distress call, how to use the emergency frequency, and how to respond to a distress call.

GMDSS: The course provides an overview of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), including the different types of distress signals, the equipment required on board, and the different levels of GMDSS certification.
