Overview
Breast cancer is abnormal growth of the cells of the breast, any person who has got breast tissue irrespective of the gender can get breast cancer, but since breast tissue is more among females hence it's more prevalent among women, 1 in 100 cancers of the breast happen in men.

Myth : Is Breast Cancer Hereditary?
Fact: Incidentally breast cancer runs in the family but not all breast cancers are hereditary related cancers. Only 6-7% cancers of the breast run in the family and are hereditary.

Information on Premature Menopause, Infertility and Breast Cancer:
Exposure of the breast tissue to the hormonal cycles (estrogen, progesterone) has increased risk. Women who have undergone early menopause or late menopause or who have taken hormone supplementation for infertility or any other reason are at a higher risk of developing Breast Cancer as compared to others.

Information on Genetic Testing for Breast Cancer:
If the patient has a family history of breast cancer more prevalent in the maternal side of the family,
If the patient is less than 40 years of age, or any of the siblings have had breast cancer, genetic testing is advised for these patients.
