Intramuros Park Now Open Future Central Park in Manila

Club Intramuros will be open every sunday for visitors.The golf course will be transformed into a Central Forest Park in the Future.

Manila is set to gain a much-needed recreational green space as the Club Intramuros Golf Course begins opening its grounds to the public every Sunday starting November 23. The 18-hole historic course—one of the city's largest open areas—will temporarily pause golf operations once a week to serve as an accessible public park from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The transformation allows visitors to enjoy activities such as walking, jogging, picnics, light exercise, stretching, and yoga within designated areas. Pets on leash are welcome, with owners reminded to clean up after them to maintain the space.

In their announcement, Club Intramuros and TIEZA emphasized that Sundays will now be “dedicated to community recreation, transforming into an open park for relaxing outdoor activities.” This shift gives the public a chance to explore the vast 200,000-square-meter green expanse—usually reserved for golfers—without concerns about flying golf balls.

While the fairways will be open for leisure, specialized golf zones will remain restricted to protect the course for its regular Tuesday-to-Sunday operations. The move follows earlier discussions about converting the property into a larger Intramuros Forest Park, part of initiatives aimed at expanding green spaces in the city.

Located along Bonifacio Drive and Aduana Street near iconic Manila landmarks, Club Intramuros now offers a rare opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy a refreshing urban escape—bringing the city one step closer to having more inclusive and sustainable public parks.
