The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, stated that Apple, as the producer of the iPhone 16 series, has sent a letter to the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. In the letter, Apple requests a meeting with Minister Agus Gumiwang to discuss the circulation of the iPhone 16 in Indonesia. The meeting is also related to government policies that currently still prohibit the circulation of the iPhone 16 in Indonesia.
This is because Apple has not met the domestic component level requirement of 40 percent. "They have contacted us. They sent a letter to the Minister and requested a meeting. I don’t know the date of the letter," Febri said at the Kemenperin office in South Jakarta on Thursday (October 31, 2024).
