Mulhacen (3,482 m/11,411′) is the highest peak in the Iberian Peninsular. Pico de Veleta (3,394 m/11,135′) is the highest paved road in Europe and the second-highest peak in Sierra Nevada National Park.

The hike was physical and memorable; I partnered with Jose Luis "Montero," an experienced northern Spanish mountaineer, from Veleta to the trailhead. His presence transformed a strenuous hike into a joyful adventure. A warm thank you to Jose Luis "Montero"!
