Diatonic Chord Theory in under 1 minute. Comparing the Major and Relative Minor Keys, here in C Major. The sixth position in the Major scale is also known as the Relative minor. Here we compare C Major and A minor diatonic chords in triads. Note the C Major and A minor keys have no sharps or flats and contain the same exact notes. We count diatonic chords in thirds. Lets use the skip a note method. For example C Major is C E G. CDEFGAB we skipped the D and got us E, we skipped F and got G.
