We have September 2018 and we have been riding our BMW R1200 GS Adventure for three years.
100,000 km and three years of love-hate, which I came to report them in the next few minutes.
Everything started with damage to the cardan shaft of our R1200 RT.
In August 2015, the shaft broke at about 240,000 km.
Unfortunately, only about three weeks before planned motorcycle holidays.
A short-term repair was not possible, so it had just as short-term replacement ago.
As a decades-long boxer driver, of course I wanted an air-cooled again.
But it turned out quite differently, as the video shows.
Three years later, both are now side by side in our garage.
Of course, our R1200 RT has been repaired in the meantime. And she continues to make us very happy. It runs like the first day, still with the first clutch.

Love comes along with your BMW R1200 GS Adventure when you drive it.
As easy as a scooter, it can be circled around the tightest corners. During our holiday tours, she is a reliable partner, especially on off-road tracks some of coarser nature. The adventure is also fully loaded absolutely uncomplicated.
It certainly has the biggest advantages on such terrain compared to our R1200 RT.
So far we have had a lot of fun with the Michelin Anakee 3.
Lots of grip on the road and neat traction on gravel slopes.
But only a few sentences to the three years and 100,000 km kilometers of driving.
I would like to start with an unexpected event for me.
At about 40,000 km, the horn fell on the motorcycle and hung only on a cable. The cause was the broken sheet holder. Ultimately, a 1 euro part, what individual as part on stock does not exist.
A new complete horn with a new holder had to be replaced. Exchange took place on guarantee!
From the beginning, the transmission is bad switchable.
Although the automatic switchgear works well, but manual switching operations with clutch is absolutely unsatisfactory. This is especially true between the lower gears and for engaging the first gear.
Sensitive and confident starting is not always possible with the electronic throttle.
This can significantly improve our old R1200 RT with a mechanical wire in the handle.
The rear wheel hurls wild water and road dirt against the passengers on a wet street.
Again, our R1200RT performs significantly better in comparison.
On wet roads and without rain from above, the passengers stay dry on the R 1200 RT.
A situation like we have often experienced, for example after a continuous thunderstorm.
