Описание к видео Jazz Prophet, Market Theatre commemorate Kente's life

Gibson Kente was referred to as the father of township theatre. It is from the townships that legends like him influenced the cultural, economic and political landscape of South Africa and various parts of the globe. He was a theatre extraordinaire; from a director, producer, playwright, music composer and choreographer. By honouring the man who shaped a lot of artists, to coincide with the 55th anniversary when Gibson Kente produced his first play, Manana, The Jazz Prophet, Market Theatre has put together a musical to commemorate Kente's life and works. Makhaola Ndebele director of the musical joins us in studio to share more on the production.
