How to Home Brew Small Batches of Beer In Your Kitchen With No Equipment and Without a Kit

This video demonstrates my method for brewing beer without any specialized equipment in my regular kitchen in a condo apartment with limited storage space. If you're just starting out, it's better to focus on the basics and brew small batches until you get comfortable with brewing beer. You do not need any large tanks or dozens of bottles, or chillers, or pumps, pipes, etc. This recipe makes 4 litres of beer, but if you have a large stock pot that holds 8 litres, you can just double the ingredients below. (Or if you don't have a large pot, you can just do it with half of all the ingredients below.) If you would like to make more than 8 litres of beer at a time, then you're probably ready to invest in more equipment, or you could just repeat this method right here. Each batch takes me about 3 hours of work, including cleanup. Then you need to wait 10-12 days for fermentation, plus another 3-4 days to refrigerate.

You need these ingredients:
1 cup Beer-making sanitizing solution
1lb Dry malt extract (DME) - equivalent to about 2.5 to 3 cups
1/4 tsp Active dry yeast or preferably beer-making yeast
1/8 tsp Hops
Tap water

Household Kitchen Items That Are Needed:
Large soup pot that can hold about 4 litres (16 cups)
Two x 2 litre empty soda bottles
Funnel that fits into the soda bottles
Ladle
2 E-Z caps that will screw onto the soda bottles [website below]
4 or 5 large thin Tupperware or food containers to make ice blocks
Freezer
Refrigerator
Stove
Sink

You could make your own DIY E-Z caps by poking a 5mm hole in the middle of the soda bottle cap and then poking a needle through the rubber disk inside the cap, or you could buy them from this guy like I do. They are re-usable.
