Wilson and Oley Valley are two of the elite field hockey programs in Pennsylvania. They've squared off in the BCIAA Final the past two years. The Lynx have won three state championships and eleven District 3 titles. They beat Wilson 3-1 for their 19th Berks County championship a season ago. The Bulldogs were very excited for Thursday's matchup in Oley. "There's a lot of motivation. We look forward to it. Oley is a big competitor of ours," senior goalkeeper Catherine Wolf told SV Sports' Paul Roberts. Wolf made five saves in a 2-0 shutout of the Lynx. Oley Valley had ten corners, but was unable to convert those opportunities into goals. "I'm very excited about our defense. We worked really hard. Our whole defensive squad is very strong," said Wolf. Lehigh commit Evelyn Melograna deflected a shot by sophomore Sidni Templeton to put Wilson on the board first with 9:30 left in the first quarter. "Scoring early is very important to us, and setting the tone of the game," replied Wolf. Templeton gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage with ten minutes remaining in the third quarter. This time it was Melograna who had the assist. Wilson finished with seven shots, while the Lynx had five. The Bulldogs improved to (8-3-1, 5-0). They handed Oley Valley its first loss in league play. Megan Schaeffer made five saves for the Lynx. They lost four All-State selections to graduation from last year's PIAA-A championship team. Morgan Snyder is now playing for Penn State. Wolf, a second team All-State pick in 2023, is also headed to the Big Ten Conference. She's committed to Michigan State along with her teammate Caroline Horace. "I love the coaches and their priority with goalkeeping. I love the community," explained Wolf.
