What started as an initiative to help students and villagers in distress, has now turned into a fully realized NGO. In 2012, Madhu helped a few flood survivors make it through difficult times. Seven years hence, she and her volunteers have worked hard at fund raising to support more than 21 villages, 13000 villagers, 19 schools and 2600 children with multiple support programs. With money raised from individual donors and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), AITYS ensures children stay in school to complete secondary education, villagers receive basic medical healthcare and schools improve their infrastructure to raise their standard of imparting education. This charitable organization has convinced parents to ensure their girl child is not withdrawn from school for domestic chores. Long journeys through broken roads, ghost towns and remote mountains have not dimmed their confidence. Concentrating on the Pauri region of Uttarakhand, Madhu has taken on challenge after challenge to win the confidence and support of the villagers and make her initiatives a success.
