Clark's Method is a technique for creating a unit hydrograph by assuming that rainfall occurs instantaneously across a watershed, generating an "Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph" (IUH). This IUH is then derived by considering how water is translated from different parts of the watershed to the outlet (based on a time-area histogram) and attenuated through storage within the basin, represented as a linear reservoir with a storage coefficient (R). Key factors in this method are the time of concentration (Tc) which represents the travel time of water across the basin, and the time-area histogram which details the distribution of runoff generation across the watershed.

Clark's Method is a widely used technique for generating Instantaneous Unit Hydrographs (IUHs) based on rainfall data. IUHs are essential for predicting flood response in watersheds and are particularly useful for hydrological modeling and flood forecasting. By accurately representing the relationship between rainfall input and resulting runoff, IUHs can help improve flood risk management and infrastructure planning.

Factors influencing the generation of Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph, such as watershed characteristics and storm event characteristics, must be carefully considered when generating IUHs. Additionally, advancements in technology and data collection methods have improved the accuracy and reliability of IUHs in hydrological modeling.
