Sky News host Rita Panahi says too many feminists have abandoned the core issues of women’s rights and are just "pushing a far-left agenda".

In a collection of 38 essays entitled ‘Australia Tomorrow’ - which is available from October 1 - Ms Panahi argues the modern feminist movement has been hijacked by the far-left.

“We’ve seen it particularly with Muslim women and how these empowered western feminists ignore the plight of these women,” she told Sky News host Alan Jones.

“These are the most disempowered women in the world, living in countries where they do not have equal rights, where they’re forced into a hijab, where they’re forced into marriage, where they don’t have the sort of security that we have here.

“And you would expect … as empowered western women we would be standing up for them, and that is not happening, and it hasn't happened for a long time.”
