So with my setup, I don't need to worry about backups and I also have no need for additional external hard drives. With the ability to share files and folders directly from iCloud with anyone, I can eliminate additional cloud services like Google Drive and DropBox and pay only for iCloud Drive which I can also share with my family who can use it to offload their phones and create over the air backups. Also, if by any chance my computer breaks down, get's stolen, or somehow loses my data, I can be up and running on another Mac within few hours thanks to my methodology and iCloud Drive.
