Baby June - 'Need To Need You [Radio Edit]' (1993)

Baby June were a dance act, formed in London by songwriter Tim Hegarty, who originally hails from Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Early line-ups included vocalist Peter Cunnah, who left to front D:Ream, and drummer Steve Hewitt, who went on to join Placebo. A D:Ream-produced debut single, 'Hey! What's Your Name' was released on the Arista label in 1992 and just scraped into the UK singles chart for one week at #75. It was to be Baby June's only chart entry. A follow-up came in 1993, 'I Will Be Free', on Dieter Meier's Solid Pleasure label, backed with remixes by Evolution, Peter Lorimer and Floor Federation. Both this and the debut are well represented on YouTube, but the third and final Baby June single, 'Need To Need You', is nowhere to be found. That has been rectified with this upload! Remixes from Trinity and Steve Proctor can be found on the 12"/CD singles. Conversely, around the same time as Baby June's demise, D:Ream were enjoying their biggest success, as 'Things Can Only Get Better' hit number #1 in January 1994. Tim Hegarty wrote #7 hit 'Shoot Me With Your Love' for D:Ream's second album, 'World' in 1995.
