In episode six, we continue our march across Europe. We annex Hannover. We conquer the Netherlands. We seize Anhalt from Prussia. We continue to wage war after war, never ceasing, never relenting. Perhaps the treasury will not bear the expense, but we wage it all the same, unflagging in our progress toward a reformed Holy Roman Empire to withstand the test of time! However, as the crown passes from Franz Joseph to Franze Ferdinand, the cracks are beginning to show. A general strike is brewing, and the Industrialists are either unwilling or unable to reform the country. Can Austria weather the storm? Or will she once again fade into a footnote in European politics? Small reforms are made--the transition to a technocracy and the institution of a system of poor laws, for example. Will they be enough? Or will Austria's commitment to the authoritarian systems of the past be her undoing?

Our second run in the National Awakening world will be as Austria. In this run, we'll strive to form a bastion of reactionary politics, holding down central Europe for the traditional values of religion, autocracy, and aristocracy, while keeping firmer control of our many subject peoples. By enacting small reforms, we will maintain the balance of power on which a traditional, multiethnic empire depends, but we won't allow reformism to run away with our society! Let the grand struggle against the tides of history commence!
