IMPORTANT UPDATE:
In this video, near the end, I talk about cutting the cord short to make it more manageable. This is all well and good, HOWEVER I made a stupid mistake in my last-minute improvisation in this regard. I figured out how much excess cord to cut off while the BIKE WAS FULLY RAISED. With the bike being lifted at least 6 feet above the floor of the garage, I forgot that the cord must be long enough to go all the way up from my hand to the hoist rail, then down and back up for the front bike pulley, and then down and back up again for the rear bike pulley. Trying to lower the bike to the floor with the cord cut as short as I made it, there is no way to lower the bike back to the floor before I run out of cord, a big problem! It was necessary for me to do a tricky manual lowering of the bike without the help of the hoist, then I purchased a replacement cord from Delta, and installed it. THEN, with the bike hanging from the hoist yet with its wheels just touching the floor, I was able to cut the excess cord to a more reasonable length. Don't make the same mistake as I did!

In this video, I show the entire process of hanging a garage-type bicycle 'ceiling hoist' in my garage. These are normally designed to mount to garage ceilings, but my installation differs in that I wanted to bike to store higher up into the garage roof structure, up in the rafters, and cross-wise to the direction of the rafters. This necessitated extra materials and installation steps, all explained and shown herein.

This video also shows a few instances where I decided to depart from the hoist's printed instructions, and I explain why and how.
