Doom Eternal helped me appreciate doom 2016. While the general consensus is that doom eternal combat wise has spoiled doom 2016 for most. Everyone, seemingly going back to the soft doom reboot of 2016 all saying that after the fast paced adrenaline rush of doom eternal doom 2016 is just too slow for them to enjoy like they once could. I on the other hand never got fully sucked into 2016 and while I, even before the release of doom eternal, felt like 2016 was a bit slow. With Eternal's release and the implementation of its more refined combat system has retrospectively helped me appreciate what Doom 2016 set out to achieve and how idsoftware can't make a "bad" game.
