This video shows how we have diagnosed and partially fixed a dead Nintendo Game Boy DMG. Initially, there was no life in the device at all. After a bit of cleaning up the battery terminals we proved that the power indicator and external supply connector parts of the circuit were functioning ok. A bit of debugging later (literally!) we identified and fixed a corroded part of the DC Converter board that was the cause for the -19VDC and the +5VDC supply to be missing. One re-starting the GameBoy, the audio start tone and game sounds were heard - but no display. No further diagnosis has been done at this stage.

Tools Used: (*)
multimeter; small “Tri-wing” screwdriver (search for “gameboy screwdriver” on ebay/etc); small phillips-head screwdriver; soldering iron; bench-top power supply.

Parts Used: (*)
4x Duracell AAA batteries; small hook-up wires (for temporarily connecting to bench-top power supply);
