I first saw the Dead Kennedys two days before our band Uniform Choice was to play it's very first show on July 4th, 1982. The drummer and I drove to "The Barn" in SoCal to see DK, Bad Religion and I believe the Descendents and RF7 were also on that bill. The place was packed and I remember Jello stopping the show because there was a guy in the balcony wearing a swastika arm band. Jello announced that the band wasn't going to play another note until he left the building. Somebody punched him from behind, he was thrown off the balcony to the floor below, and then the bouncers then carried him out the door... Once Jello got word that he was gone, the band launched in to "Nazi Punks Fuck Off!"....
I made this video using early footage of the band performing in San Francisco and a host of archive footage and then coupled everything with the digital track from the album.
