🔧 Materials Needed

1 3.5 mm audio jack (male, from old earphones)

1 NPN transistor (like BC547 or 2N2222)

1 1kΩ resistor

Small breadboard or wires

Audio source (phone or music player)

Battery (3V to 9V, depending on LEDs)

⚡ Circuit Connection

1. Connect the transistor:

Emitter → to the negative terminal of the battery.

Collector → to the negative leg (–) of the LED.

Base → connect through the 1kΩ resistor to one of the audio jack channels (Left or Right).



2. Connect the LED:

Positive leg (+) → to battery positive terminal.



3. Connect audio jack ground:

The audio jack ground wire → to the battery negative (common ground).

🎵 How It Works

The music signal from your phone passes through the resistor to the transistor base.

The transistor works as a switch, turning the LED ON and OFF rapidly according to the audio waveform.

The LED blinks to the beat of the music!

Use multiple LEDs with different transistors for color effects.

Add a capacitor (100µF) to smooth signal if it’s too flickery.
