Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online: Super Mario Land

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Game Boy, three games have been added to Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online, the three games are Super Mario Land, Baseball, and Alleyway. The game that I play for this video is Super Mario Land, which released in 1989 as a launch title for the Game Boy.

The four kingdoms are called Birabuto, Muda, Easton, and Chai, and each world has three levels, ending with a boss battle. This game does have a good soundtrack, but the Super Mario Land never seem to get any references in later games, well other than Daisy appearing in various Mario spin-off games starting with Mario Tennis, which is the next game Daisy makes her appearance, and she never appears in a main Mario game until Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which released 34 years after this game. There have been some references, for example, the Underground Theme for this game was remixed in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and the Superball Flower, a power-up for this game, appears in Super Mario Maker 2 where it changes the music to the Super Mario Land Ground Theme.
Super Mario Land was not developed by Shigeru Miyamoto, it was instead developed by Guneki Yokoi, who was part of Nintendo Research & Development 1, or Nintendo R&D 1, and that was the company that developed the Game Boy.
