Tarzan visits an equatorial café in search of an agriculture official to help him cultivate a certain type of corn for the Punya people. However, the man ends up drugging the Ape- man and locking him in the cellar of his bar. The next day, Tarzan receives help from a mysterious man and a beautiful lounge singer named Gabrielle whom he’d spied the previous night. She, too, is trying to escape the clutches of the sinister men that run the cafe. She tells Tarzan that she had worked for the underground in Warsaw during World War II and that the men are Nazi war criminals. Tarzan escorts “Gabby” on an arduous journey across the continent from that equatorial port city to Angola, during which he falls under the spell of her charms. Their pursuers close in yet the two manage to escape through an underground river only to fall into the clutches of the French police who immediately arrest Gabby as she is actually a diamond smuggler who has duped Tarzan with her lies.
