Flower Size Is Not The Determining Factor
Remember that while large and dense buds are desirable, this is not like growing a zucchini, if you let it grow longer it will get bigger.
Your goal is to maximize not necessarily the size but the chemical compounds.



Flower/Bud Size
Typically the buds exposed to the most light will become the largest so these are typically the apical buds.
This is why so many pruning strategies have this as a main goal.



Compounds Vs. Size
If the goal is internal compounds why is size even a consideration?
The large size is desirable and demonstrates good growing practices so these typically get top dollar as these are the most sought after.
However, if looking to try sample of a different variety, consider the second cut flowers as these have similar chemical properties but due to the reduced size come at a cost savings.
