Rebuilding My Triumph Spitfire Gearbox 2 - Inspection

Описание к видео Rebuilding My Triumph Spitfire Gearbox 2 - Inspection

After separating the gearbox into its major components, you'll need to remove a couple circlips and separate all of the gears, washers, and bearings. The key to smooth shifting and a reliable transmission is to have clean gears without excessive wear, and to make sure that they fit together properly without too much movement. It's actually pretty easy to do yourself with only a couple tools. You'll need a feeler gauge to measure the gaps as they are, and if you end up having to replace a thrust washer or bushing, you'll need a caliper to measure the old one. For example, if you have a washer that's 0.123" thick, and your gears are floating 0.002" too much... you know you need a new washer that's 0.125" thick to take up the slack and make everything fit properly again.
