In Episode #1 on Data Protection and Privacy Rights we welcome Christiane Wendehorst and Max Schrems.

Christiane Wendehorst has a track-record of profound research in the field of digital rights, is a professor of law co-heading the Department of Innovation and Digitalization in Law at the University of Vienna, scientific director of the European Law Institute and President of the Humanities and Social Sciences Division of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Max Schrems is the co-founder and CEO of the European Center for Digital Rights (noyb), a privacy NGO that engages in paneuropean strategic litigation and enforcement, and is world-famous for spearheading litigation against big tech companies.

We talk about the status quo of consumer protection in the digital age, about digital vulnerability, dark patterns, personalized pricing and artificial intelligence. We talk about the GDPR’s effectiveness, the very first judgment of the European Court of Justice on emotional damages under the GDPR, the enforcement landscape concerning data protection rules and about recent and future regulatory approaches.
