Rundown: Filipino historian Xiao Chua says the Day of Valor highlights the Filipinos' resilience. Chua says April 9 should be remembered for the courage of Filipino soldiers who kept on fighting the Japanese troops despite the odds. The day of Valor or Araw ng Kagitingan marks the day Filipino and American soldiers surrendered to the Japanese in 1942.
