Dalton's utilization has sparked discussions about Young's physical stature, standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 204 pounds, and his ability to endure the rigors of the NFL. Nonetheless, Reich pointed out that his history includes deploying backup quarterbacks for short-yardage situations, drawing parallels to his time with Jacoby Brissett in Indianapolis.

As demonstrated on Monday, Dalton's presence on the field could telegraph a potential quarterback sneak to the defense, which could, in turn, open up alternative options in such scenarios. It's not uncommon for coaches to seek alternatives to protect their starting quarterbacks. For instance, after Patrick Mahomes suffered a knee injury in 2019 during a sneak play, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid introduced the TE-motion-sneak into the game plan. Reich emphasized that whatever keeps Young healthy early in his career is a prudent strategy.
