The construction of chariots for the sibling deities of Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath is in full swing ahead of Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha.

The Rath Yatra is scheduled to take place on July 7, 2024.

Around 200 labourers, including carpenters and artists, are working round-the-clock to prepare the chariots for the yatra.

Multiple generations of carpenters continue to serve the Lord during the world-famous Chariot Festival at Puri Shri Mandir.

The Ratha Yatra is the most significant ritual during which Lord Jagannath goes on a divine outing with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra, accompanied by his divine weapon Sudarshana.

It is considered the oldest and largest Hindu chariot festival, celebrated annually on the bright half of the lunar month of Ashadh. The festival is held at Puri, in Odisha, and is associated with the deity Jagannath.
