RCs HOME MOVIES 1963

RC Carty's Home Movies. Filming was something that stuck with him his entire life and something that he really enjoyed. RC passed away 4.12.23. It has been my privilege to convert these old movies from his lifetime. As I convert this footage from film to digital, I am both happy to see his life and sad the he is not with us anymore. My biggest hope is that his memories can live on even after he's gone.

The 1st films were 8mm with no sound from the early 1950s. Then later it was Super 8 with sound. Then in the 80's it was the large VHS cameras, finally with the VHSC video camera in the early 2000s. RC (Richard C.) Carty was born in Magoffin County Kentucky in 1933. He was raised at his family’s home in Salyersville Kentucky. I spent many of summer vacations in the surrounding hills near his family’s house. I have many fond memories traveling there in RCs blue 1970s Chevy van. I have memories of everything from squirrel hunting to dodging copperhead snakes to getting stung by a yellow jacket in the ear when I was 8. Of course I can’t forget to mention the wonderful homemade dumplings his mom used to make.

The footage contained in these videos includes: A lot of footage of his family and childhood home in Kentucky. Many vacations to Florida over the years. His children Marty, Leisha & Ginger. His wife Margie, the property they lived at in Logansport, In. And finally, lots of footage of the grandchildren.
