Micro Set and Micro Sol are decal setting solutions, they are complimentary and are frequently bought together.
Both are supplied in small, 30-millilitre plastic bottles.
Micro Set helps a decal adhere to a model surface, additionally, it will gently soften the decal.
This means it will help shape itself better to simple surface details such as gentle curves and recessed panel lines.
Micro Sol is a more powerful solution, and will help a decal to adhere to more challenging surfaces, such as tight curves or raised surface details.
Here we can see the effects of both Micro Set and Micro Sol on this Airfix Spitfire Mark Twelve.
Micro Set has been used on this large wing roundel. This has helped it adhere to the model and recess into some of the panel lines.
These underwing decals were a greater challenge as the surface is more uneven, due to the presence of a significant surface feature.
In this instance Micro Sol was used, this has helped the decal to contour effectively around the protruding feature, for a more natural look.
Effective use of both Micro Set, and Micro Sol on a model can help decals to assume a more natural, 'Painted on' effect.
