Talking Depression - That First Conversation

In this video from the Talking Depression campaign by Janssen Sciences Ireland UC, adventurer Dane Galligan speaks with broadcaster Elaine Crowley about his experience living with severe depression.

Dane reflects on the first conversation he had with his GP which was a crucial point in his journey with severe depression. Despite initial apprehension about speaking out, he describes the relief he felt after opening up.

Dane encourages anyone who is struggling, to seek support from a healthcare professional (HCP) and explains why regular check-ins are necessary. Twenty years on, Dane regularly checks in with a qualified HCP and describes this as a non-negotiable in his journey of living with depression.
