In a landmark achievement, NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) has become the first company in India to receive the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) license for Hot Rolled Steel Strip, Sheet, and Plates for Welded Steel Pipe for Pipeline Transportation Systems (IS 18384:2023).

The certification was presented during the World Standards Day 2025 celebration organized by BIS in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The award was conferred to Shri Amrit Narayan, Chief General Manager (Steel) at NMDC Steel, by the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, in the presence of BIS officials and dignitaries.

CMD Amitava Mukherjee congratulated the entire team, stating: “We are proud to be the first in India to achieve this BIS license. It reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence and contribution towards strengthening India’s industrial standards and infrastructure.”
