In this post we are learn about the Sorimuthu Ayyanar Temple story. The Sorimuthu Ayyanar Temple is located in Karaiyar in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.

The Sorimuthu Ayyanar Temple is located in Karaiyar, located on the Papanasam Western Ghats near Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli district. It is said that this Shasta temple was built before the Sabarimala Shasta temple was built. The location of this temple is located on the banks of the Thamirabarani river.

This temple is located within the Kalakkadu Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve forest area. The Dharmasasta residing in this temple is called Sorimuthu Ayyanar. He is blessed with two wives, Poorna and Pushkala. This temple is special in that those who do not know the family deity can worship this Sorimuthu Ayyanar as the family deity. Therefore, it is also worth mentioning that many people who do not know the family deity worship him as the family deity.

Since Sorimuthu Ayyanar is the first stage of Ayyappa, a large number of Ayyappa devotees come here during the month of Karthigai and wear garlands before going to Sabarimala.

The wedding of Parameswaran and Goddess Parvati took place in the Himalayas. To see this divine spectacle, all the gods and sages traveled towards the north. Due to this, the north direction was seen to be low and the south direction was seen to be high. Therefore, Lord Shiva called Agastya to balance the world and told him to go towards the south.

As per the order of the Lord, Agastya also traveled towards the south and reached the Pothikai mountain. He stayed at the place where the Sorimuthu Ayyanar temple is now located in the Pothikai mountain. He took a bath in the Thamirabarani river, completed his eternal rituals and sat in yoga meditation. Then a light appeared. Agastya, amazed by seeing it, looked with his divine vision to know who that light was.

Then he saw the vision of the Shasta, Sorimuthu Ayyanar, worshipping the Mahalinga Swamy. Along with Sorimuthu Ayyanar, Brahmaraksasi and Pechiyamman also worshipped Mahalinga Swamy. Seeing this, Agastya Muni became happy.
Then, having showered flowers, he came here on the day of Aadi Amavasya, which appeared to him, took a bath in this holy place, removed off nonveg and alcohol, and prayed to the Lord to grant him a boon that all those who worship the deities erected here will live happily with all their wealth. Then, when the gods showered flowers from the sky, from that day on, Malar Sorimuthuyanar was named.


தமிழகத்தின் திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள காரையாரில் சொரிமுத்து அய்யனார் ஆலயம் அமைந்துள்ளது.

திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டம் அம்பாசமுத்திரம் அருகே பாபநாசம் மேற்குதொடற்சி மலையில் அமைந்துள்ள காரையாறில் சொரிமுத்து அய்யனார் ஆலயம் அமைந்துள்ளது. சபரிமலை சாஸ்தா ஆலயம் உருவாகுவதற்க்கு முன்னதாகவே இந்த சாஸ்தாவின் ஆலயம் உருவாகிவிட்டதாக கூறப்படுகிறது. தாமிரபரணி நதிக்கரையில் இந்த ஆலயத்தின் அமைவிடம் அமையப்பெற்றுள்ளது. இந்த ஆலயமானது, களக்காடு முண்டந்துறை புலிகள் சரணாலய வனப்பகுதிக்குள் அமைந்துள்ளது.

இத்தலத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் தர்மசாஸ்தா, சொரிமுத்து அய்யனார் என்ற பெயரில் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார். இவர் பூர்ண, புஷ்கலா என்ற இரு தேவியரோடு அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். இங்குள்ள தர்மசாஸ்தா இடதுகாலை மட்டும் குத்துக்காலிட்டு, வலது காலை தொங்கவிட்டபடி, சற்றே இடப்புறமாக திரும்பியிருக்கிறார்.

குல தெய்வம் தெரியாதவர்கள் இந்த சொரிமுத்து அய்யனாரை குலதெய்வமாக வழிபடலாம் என்ற சிறப்புடையது இக்கோவில். எனவே குலதெய்வம் தெரியாத பலரும் இவரையே குலதெய்வமாக வழிபடுகிறார்கள் என்பதும் குறிப்பிடதகுந்தது. ஐய்யப்பனின் முதல் நிலையாக சொரிமுத்து அய்யனார் விளங்குவதால், கார்த்திகை மாதங் களில் ஏராளமான அய்யப்ப பக்தர்கள் சபரிமலைக்கு செல்வதற்காக இங்கு வந்து மாலை அணிந்துகொள்கின்றனர்.
