Описание к видео "Hino Rio Grandense" - Anthem of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) (Complete Version)

"Hino Rio-Grandense" is the official anthem of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, whose lyrics were composed by Francisco Pinto da Fontoura, and the music was made by Comendador Maestro Joaquim José Mendanha and harmonized by Antônio Corte Real.

The original work had a stanza, which is the second, which was suppressed in 1966 during the Military Regime in Brazil, for mentioning "tyrants" and Athenian democracy. Only one recording exists of the hymn with the deleted verse, which is the one shown in the video. There was already an attempt to restore it in 2007, but the proposal did not find support and was shelved.

This video was made to be a modest tribute to the families who were victims of the floods occurring in Rio Grande do Sul at this very moment.
