Relevant work experience is a key deciding factor when employing recent graduates. At Oxford Brookes, you can do placements of different lengths as part of many courses.

The placements at Oxford Brookes range from a few weeks to a full year. If you choose to do a year’s placement, your undergraduate course takes four years. As part of the placement, you not only get a training plan and mentor, you also earn a salary.

Placements have a positive impact on degree results, as well as giving students the relevant industry experience, helping their studies to go even further. Oxford Brookes has strong industry links with employers including local schools, NHS, IBM, Apple, BMW and Harley-Davidson. Many students go on to find graduate employment with the same employer.

Lauren Bradburne studies BA (Hons) International Business Management at Oxford Brookes University. She did on a one-year placement in the logistics department of BMW Mini Plant in Oxford. BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science student Andrada Tomoni’s placement was at the UK Biocentre in Milton Keynes, where she worked as a Laboratory Technician. In this video, we see them both on their placements and hear their experiences of combining a degree with a placement and how invaluable the skills they learnt were for their future careers.
