I threw giant swimbaits for 8 hours chasing trophy bass in the Pacific Northwest. My plan was to repeat the exact strategy that worked in my last video — when I caught a 7.5 lb largemouth, my biggest bass ever — but this time at a lake known for holding even bigger fish.

I spent the morning finding offshore grasslines, exploring new water, and committing to big swimbaits in hopes of connecting with another giant. Swimbait fishing is all about the grind, and sometimes you put in a full day with no bites before finally switching it up.

After hours of chasing giants with no luck, I pulled out the drop shot to see if I could stop the skunk — and it saved the day. This is the reality of largemouth bass fishing in the PNW: the highs, the lows, and never knowing when that next cast could connect with a true trophy.

I’m fishing out of my Old Town Sportsman 106 PDL kayak, using my Humminbird Helix 7 to locate structure, and throwing big swimbaits in search of trophy largemouth bass.
