The base model cars are powered by a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder. The model tested here is the king-of-the-hill 3.5 SL which has a 3.5 liter V-6 under the hood that makes 270 horsepower and 251 lb-ft. of torque which is plenty for a passenger sedan. The CVT trans helps the Altima V-6 achieve 22 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway.
