How to Install Metal Hip / Ridge / Peak Caps

How to Install Metal Roofing: Hip, Ridge, and Peak trim are the final metal trim pieces installed on your standing seam metal roof.

HIPS: Metal panels that meet at the hips should be cut close to hip point, but not touching. Apply Z-Flashing along panels where the hip cap edges will be fastened. Start at the bottom of the hip when installing hip flashing, remember to allow overhang for bending which will match panel overhang. Attached hip flashing with Premium SDS 7/8” screws at each rib along the flashing

RIDGE: There are two applications for the ridge cap flashing:
For non-vented ridges, install Z-Flashing (with butyl tape along the bottom and 1" Pancake screws every 12"). Hook the cap to the Z-Flashing and secure with rivets every 12" on center.
For vented ridges, panels at the peak must leave at least a 2-4” gap between them for best ventilation. Vent clips are made from Z-Flashing by cutting the standard flashing to 3" pieces. Install butyl tape at every clip. Clips are spaced at every Rib. Install Razorback Ridgevent under the profile of the Vent Clip. Attach cap to the vent clips with rivets.

PEAK CAP: This cap flashing is for single sloped structures.

TIPS:
*Remember to leave enough overhang to cut and bend ends to create a finished look.
*Seal notched areas with Sealant.
*Specify the pitch of your roof when ordering to insure a proper fit!
