Work begins on demolition of westbound Washington Bridge

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation says crews have started stripping asphalt off the westbound Washington Bridge, which was abruptly closed in December.

RIDOT said the process of removing the asphalt will take about two weeks, if the weather cooperates.

The bridge is slated to be demolished by March.
