Carburetor replacement on Ariens law mower with Briggs & Stratton engine

I started having problems with my lawn mower leaking fuel and surging while running. For a temporary fix, I added a fuel cut off valve inline but finally got around to fixing it.

I found complete carburetors on eBay for $20.73 and decided I would take a chance on one. This video shows the complete carburetor package and the steps in replacement.

All in all the project was pretty easy to do, and I have no doubt anyone could complete it. After the project was complete, I was able to make some adjustments to the idle speed and fuel mixture and got the mower running well.

I would definitely recommend purchasing one of these aftermarket carbs if you have issues with yours.

The lawnmower is a 42" cut Ariens tractor with a 17.5 HP Briggs & Stratton Model 31C707 engine.
