Описание к видео Why Are Soy Sauce Fish Being Banned?

SOY SAUCE FISH BAN
South Australia will become the first state in Australia to ban these soy sauce fish containers, but the decision has caused a bit of debate. You might be familiar with these tiny containers of soy sauce, you know, the ones you can get with your sushi? Well, they'll be officially banned in South Australia from the first of September! It's news a lot of people aren't too happy with. It's all part of South Australia's crackdown on single-use plastics, which experts say are causing harm to our environment. They say the packaging is hard to recycle because it's too small to be processed by sorting machines so it often end up in landfill or in the environment where it can take hundreds of years to break down. So what can you use instead? Experts say the best option is to use the re-fillable containers of soy sauce at restaurants, but if you need to, you can still use soy sauce sachets, because while sachets still count as single-use plastics, experts say they're less likely to be littered and end up in the environment.

NSW WEATHER
Parts of the NSW coast have recorded their wettest August in 126 years. Just yesterday, the SES responded to more than 400 calls for help, with extreme rainfall sparking flood warnings across the state. The Bureau of Meteorology says it's already been one of the wettest years on record for the state. Forecasts show showers are likely to hang around the coast over the weekend, things should ease off a bit next week.

BOOK WEEK
This week is the 80th anniversary of Book Week, a time for Aussies to celebrate all things literature. We sent Joe to a school in Adelaide to check out the action.

BUTTER SCULPTURE
First up, to the Minnesota State Fair in the US where Gerry here is getting ready to carve a sculpture out of butter. Sitting in as his subject is Malorie, who's just been crowned this year's Princess Kay. It's a tradition that dates back about 60 years, and is all to celebrate the state's dairy farms.

LAB SKIN
Now to scientists in Queensland, who have just created the world's first "living skin" in a lab. They used stem cells to grow it, and hope that one day it could be used to make skin grafts, as well as help them study rare skin disorders.

GIRAFFE CLASSIFICATION
And finally to a new report on giraffes, which up until now, have been classified as a single species. The report found that there are actually 4 distinct giraffe species, and conservationists hope the findings can help them focus on protecting the types of giraffe most at risk.
