Hiking the STANLEY GLACIER trail in (Kootenay National Park)

We hiked another Kootenay National Park Classic, The Stanley Glacier Trail. Known as the Fire and Ice trail, the Stanley Glacier trail was gorgeous and offered a glimpse into the past and present as we ventured up the moraine of the Glacier.

We had the trail to ourselves in the morning and hiked the unmarked section as a loop which turned out to be just perfect. This one got busy on the way down so set your alarm early if you got your sights set on this.

If you have ever road tripped near Banff and Lake Louise you surely know that without a camping reservation it is impossible to find anywhere to sleep. Thankfully the Lake Louise overflow parking was open to anyone to park for the night and sleep for free as long as you are gone by 8am.
