Parkland Formula for Burn Treatment

Описание к видео Parkland Formula for Burn Treatment

Parkland Formula

In this video we are breaking down the Parkland Formula. What it is used for, why it is used, and how to use it.

The parkland formula is used to help predict fluid loss that is expected with burns and to replace it and try to stay ahead of it to avoid hypovolemia.

With the Parkland Formula, you'll give 4 milliliters of Lactated Ringer's, multiplied by the patient's weigh in kilograms, and then multiplied by the percentage of total body surface area that was burned with the rule of 9's.

Since those first few hours after a burn are when the most fluid shifting can occur, you'll give half during the first 8 hours. And then the remaining half over the next 16 hours. This will help to combat the interstitial fluid shift and correct hypovolemia without overwhelming the body.

You are doing awesome, friend! You are going to be an amazing nurse!
