HEARNE, Texas (KBTX) - The Brazos Valley Groundwater Conservation District board plans to refer several contested groundwater export permit cases to the State Office of Administrative Hearings for a comprehensive review. This decision comes after a public hearing on Thursday at the conservation district offices in Hearne, where Texas A&M University requested a permit to drill and operate a well to extract up to 1,934.8 acre-feet of water per year from the Simsboro Aquifer. Additionally, 12 formal complaints were filed, requesting a contested case hearing to challenge the permit, which was also held on Thursday.
