There is no doubt that APIs have seen another boost in popularity because of their importance for GenAI and AI agents. Is it because they fuel innovation, because they allow new forms of intelligence, or because their impact is amplified by AI? Here are some opinions from ‪@apidays‬ Helsinki:

As you can tell, there's no clear answer, but all of these angles clearly are important factors in the API space

👉 Innovation means to use existing things in new and unforeseen ways to support new use cases that appear and evolve over time. APIs as the foundational layer of establishing optionality help to make innovation faster and more flexible.

👉 Intelligence allows new insights into existing data and processes, and with the capabilities of AI-powered applications, when they tap into existing assets, they can come up with new and promising insights.

👉 Impact is a function of utilization. If you have a solid layer of APIs for your data and processes, the impact of these digital assets will be much higher than if they're limited to specialized and one-off integrations.

As usual, this ‪@apidays‬ event with many great presentations and hallway discussions was a great experience. You always walk away with new insights and with new friends as well. Looking forward to the next ‪@apidays‬ event in July in Munich; will you be there as well?
