Insects show mainly three types of metamorphosis

1) Ametabolous or no metamorphosis
in silver fish and spring tails

2) Hemimetabolous or incomplete or partial metamorphosis
in grasshoppers and bugs

3) Holometabolous or complete metamorphosis
in butterflies and moth and flies such as mosquito and housflies


Hormones that helps in the process of metamorphosis are Prothoracic hormones and juvenile hormones.
