Modelling Signal Inputs with Ansys HFSS Using Wave Ports and Lumped Ports

Описание к видео Modelling Signal Inputs with Ansys HFSS Using Wave Ports and Lumped Ports

When modeling an electromagnetic structure, the accuracy of the solution solver is dependent on the input signal definition also known as the excitation. This excitation is defined as a port on the geometry model. Ports can define either an input signal or an output signal. Ansys HFSS is a finite element electromagnetic solver that provides the user with several ways to excite their model geometry. The excitation signal can be defined as a power, voltage or current source. The most common port types used are wave ports and lumped ports. One general difference between wave ports and lumped ports is the physical location of the port with respect to the model geometry. Wave ports are located on the exterior of the modelling geometry while lumped ports are located inside the model geometry. Wave ports also provide information on the signal mode, propagation and characteristic impedance. This video module details these two most commonly used ports: Wave port and Lumped port, along with their difference and when to use them.
