Enabling transformation in the academic workplace is urgently needed to keep our students motivated to do science and reap the benefits that diversity, inclusion, and justice brings. Flavia Sousa proposes a new concept of Emotional Salary to be included in the academic workplace to stop scientists from leaving academia. Dr. Flávia Sousa is a Senior Researcher at Adolphe Merkle Institute in Switzerland. She is a pharmacist by training and she obtained her PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2019 at University of Porto in Portugal. Driven by science passion and continuous growth, Dr. Flávia Sousa has been developing new biological nanotherapies for the brain cancer. Apart from her passion to science, she is also interested in promoting a equal and healthy culture of science in society. In this TEDtalk, she will talk about current academic challenges and why is important for a scientist never give up and keep their dreams.
